Do You Know
Posted by magicalmysticalteacher
~~ 1 ~~
What do you know, teen,
about the technology
cradled in your hand?
~~ 2 ~~
What do you know, cook,
about the delicious pies
cooling on the shelf?
~~ 3 ~~
What do you know, cock,
about the shrill notes you sing
to startle morning?
~~ 4 ~~
What do you know, monk,
about the mantra you chant
to the holy One?
~~ 5 ~~
What do you know, child,
about the smudge on your cheek
from rivers of tears?
~~ 6 ~~
What do you know, wife,
about the urge to desert
the man who beats you?
~~ 7 ~~
Driver, do you know
how to merge into traffic
when the coast’s not clear?
~~ 8 ~~
People, do you know
that unity of spirit
is the path to peace?
~~ 9 ~~
Children, do you know
that to be inquisitive
may lead to greatness?
~~ 10 ~~
Cellist, do you know
that your stellar performance
is a passing breeze?
~~ 11 ~~
Pilgrim, do you know
how to activate the map
that shows you the way?
~~ 12 ~~
Prophet, do you know
how to project the Lord’s voice
through the words you speak?

Oh I do love this series – I think they capture just the right balance 🙂
A great set of questions!
…but I’m willing to learn…!
Those who are willing to learn usually always do!
This is an absolutely beautiful series. There is so much anyone of us does NOT know.
http://inthecornerofmyeye.blogspot.com/2013/04/albert-schweitzer-and-dog.html
We have so much to learn haven’t we?
More than we ever will, I’m sure!
You do it so easily and so smoothly!! Are there answers too?? You make me curious!!
Many questions, few answers…
Beautiful beautiful poem of rhetorical questions to make everyone THINK about their lives and our collective legacy. This poem excited me more with each line!
Me too! 🙂
Quite an impact..big questions..boldly asked..you really do have a unique approach to these prompts..
so many questions and so clear how it is so easy to take for granted what is already in our hands. a great reminder to hold everything a little more gently
so right on point for today’s weary
There many be few answers, but it is enough to ask the questions!
The River
Yes, it is!
WOW! You knocked these ones right out of the park! Fantastic!
the tech we hold in our hands is way powerful
quickening of the chakras
Fantastic. The repetition tied these together beautifully.
Beautiful verses. The repetition works wonderfully.
Indeed, what do any of us know? Thought provoking.
Love this progression. 🙂
Everything fits together so well, as if it were effortless to write, which I know it could not have been. Gorgeous!
Ah very though provoking this week Love it.
I always enjoy all of your haiku. This particular week Number 3 stands out for me. I remember vacationing in Maui and the rooster from across the way not letting us sleep in. 🙂
Thank you for your visit.
Wow. What do we know? I like the penultimate one.
after reading your verses; my thoughts resonate – What do i really know?
much love…
I was checking out this challenge and wanted to see an example. Saw your name and clicked. This is amazingly wonderful. Wow!
