Blue Monday: Gears

IMG_6254
Detail from a mural, Prescott Public Library, Prescott, Arizona

Round and round and round they go,
Sometimes fast and sometimes slow.
Gears are turning here and there,
Gears are turning everywhere!

They can turn a Ferris wheel,
They can turn a shaft of steel;
They can make Big Ben run true,
Raise and lower great locks too.

Gears are turning here and there,
Gears are turning everywhere;
Made to grind, but not to blast,
Gears can move both slow and fast.

      Thank you, Lisa. The poems are not always easy to write. This was one that thwarted me for hours. I’m still not completely satisfied with it, but it will have to do—deadlines, you know!

  3. Never know how the wheels of life will turn out to be. You make a simple sight interesting.

  4. I enjoy your poem very much.
    Thank you for hosting.
