Fresh

Daybreak at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Southern Arizona

The smokers are still sleeping,
All snug within their tents.
The air is fresh and lovely,
Despite the world’s events.

But with the exhalation
Of morning’s first white smoke,
Creatures near the cigarettes
Will writhe and gag and choke.

  1. smokers seem to be injurious to environments…

  2. Lol, that is the truth!

  3. I love the backlighting on the ocotillos. Beautiful photo!

  4. Beautifiul photo — I wish all the smokers everywhere would just stay in bed. Or somewhere else (besides earth).

  5. Beautiful silhouette

  6. Looks crisp and clear indeed.

  7. I’m coming up on 4 months, smoke-free. I quit once for 9 months, so (at best) I’m still only hopeful (and determined).

  8. Hah, smokers. What to do with them. In Oklahoma the tea party legislature is balancing our budget with taxes on them.

  9. I was one of those smokers on and off for far too many years. That was over 22 years ago now.

      Congratulations on quitting!
