Let Me Go

Things related, things alike—
I will take them on this hike.

Remember that my part was chosen;
In that role my life was frozen.

Each breath leaves me sorry, dear;
The results are crystal clear.

Promise me you will not fast
When my life is past at last.

Cover me with Grandma’s quilt;
Over that toss Grandpa’s kilt.

Total everything I owe.
Now I’m ready—let me go!

  1. A lighthearted approach to something pretty serious …… Cheers!!

    Love this, the quilt and kilt. I would add some Mark Knoppfler on the CD player (if you can find one).

  3. Beverly Crawford

    Add a journal and a pen, in case I have an epiphany!

  4. Nice one. Happy Sunday

  5. That’s the trouble in getting old, there is not much left to look forward to other that you know what!

      Unfortunately, I do know what!

  6. Hope you’re not really packing up to leave just yet! But it’s an excellently practical as well as symbolic set of final instructions.

  7. Had to laugh at tossing grandpa’s kilt. Feels like going on a day trip instead of preparing for the end

  8. A lighthearted look at what awaits us all but it is a good thing to be ready… “Total everything I owe.
    Now I’m ready—let me go!”
