Blue Monday

Discarded soft drink cup, Sonoran Desert, Southern Arizona

Someone tossed a drink cup
Many moons ago,
Tossed it in the bushes,
Where no wind could blow.

Now the battered drink cup,
Fading and forlorn,
Still sits in the bushes
Night and noon and morn.

  1. You are so clever taking a simple. dirty cup and turning into something of interest. They passed me by when they handed out brains.

  2. I love that you can make a clever poem about something as simple as a discarded coffee cup! I don’t approve of litter though–wish that cup had ended up in a garbage can…sigh.

    Thanks for hosting Blue Monday!

  3. A happy Monday; a lovely rhyme. Thank you for hosting Blue Monday

    much love…

  4. Ode to trash. It will never disintegrate. Sad.

Nasty stuff as an inspiration to poetry? It happens!
