The Vanity of Riches

DSC_0261
La Virgen de Guadalupe protects a grave, Yuma Pioneer Cemetery, Yuma, Arizona

The vanity of riches,
The poverty of wealth—
No woman with a sound mind
Thinks she can buy good health.

Shrouds have no ample pockets
For silver, gems or gold.
We go out empty-handed—
Life can’t be bought or sold.
